Haul & Review | Recent Buys

So I had a recent little shopping trip to Boots and Primark, I didn't buy much because I've been shopping A LOT lately but I got some cute stuff and thought I would share :)

So first is Primark, I got this shopper bag with the distressed Aztec skull design on. It was only £1.50 and thought it would come in handy when I'm going out with loads of stuff because its actually quite big and can hold a lot of stuff. I got the new make up bag as my other one was just a tacky old one I brought for just temporary use but I lovedddd this one. I love the studded design and I'm just loving white at the moment anyway, It is quite big for a make up bag but I take loads with my when I go out so its ideal for me and only £3.

I got the sunglasses for the summer and they are almost like the Ray Ban shape but mega mega cheap and with a cute little skull on the corner. I thought they would be nice for a grungy relaxed look, most likely when I go to Godiva Festival or even just out for a drink in the sun.

I'm not a massive buyer of hair products, I have a lot of different shampoos and conditions but not other products. I've heard a lot of hype about the Batiste dry shampoo and thought I would give it a go as I ran out of my Tresemme one. I brought the floral and coconut scented ones, I didn't want to buy the big canisters unless I wasn't too keen on it, so I got the travel sized ones which were only about £1-£2. For starters I loved the smell, especially the coconut, I love coconut anyway, it gave my hair a nice fresh feel and actually a lot of volume, which was unexpected but very pleased about.

I also brought the got2be volumizing styling powder. I was a bit weary about using this as it comes like talc powder and thought I would just look like I have dandruff, but you put a small amount into your hand and rub them together, it kind of feels sticky. Then I just pump up my hair and it gives it instant volume, not as much as the dry shampoo but its good for a subtle but volumzing look and definitively use hair spray too with it. I don't think I will be buying it again though.

I love hand cream and hand sanitizers and getting a little collection now, Soap and Glory are one of my favourite brands and I have the Hand Maid hand sanitizer which smells like floral and fruity amazingness. I got the Hand Food hand cream and it smells lovely and fruity too and gives quite good moisturizing which is good for the cold weather at the moment. The Bee Lovely Hand Cream smells amazing as well but is a lemon scent which feels more summery to me. Its very good too though and makes my hands feel lovely. Thumbs up for these two.

I haven't strayed from my Avon eyebrow definer yet but when I saw Soap and Glory have one I had to try it, I think its really handy to have it double ended with a highlighter added. I found it stays all day and has good definition with the highlighter as well. Its handy to just keep in your make up bag and use on the go if you do need to touch it up a bit. I used these with me eyebrow brush and tweezers to get strays and had lovely shaped and defined brows.

Review | Head and Shoulders

So I haven't actually used head and shoulders before but after the horrid cold weather and my skin going dry an lips chapped my scalp might as well too. So yeah I've had dry skin on my scalp and it's been itchy at times and even felt a bit tight at times. It's not nice and can be embarrassing.

My friend at university told me she has had it before and she used head and shoulders so I nipped into body care and got some cheap for about £2 I think. The 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner.

It says you can tell the difference from the first wash and oh em gee I did. I used it twice whilst in the shower just to give my hair a deep clean, I took extra time to massage it into my scalp and it didn't feel itchy or tight after. It felt so nice, it hasn't got nice smells and all that jazz but my hair felt super clean after.

It's certainly a good product to use in the winter to protect your hair and scalp from the cold. It will be my winter must have from now on.

Recovered | Hair disaster 2012

(Picture from google)

Last year, I used the John Frieda precision foam color  I went for a dark red cause I do love red hair but dark not really bright, I don't think it would suit me. I have died my hair before and have used John Frieda before and never had a problem. I applied the hair dye very precisely because i'm always weary about hair dye cause of people leaving it on too long and all that jazz.

So yeah as I was washing the dye out some of my hair was coming out just odd strands, but more than usual so I just dismissed it as I have random strands come out when i'm washing my hair cause I have super thick hair. When I was drying it I noticed a lot of my hair was breaking off and felt really brittle and weak, I was super annoyed as it was clearly the dye as my hair was healthy and fine before that. My hair had lost 6 inches in length from it being really weak and it just broke off.

I rang John Frieda and they sent me 2 recovery hair cream products which I went through in about a month and it was still brittle and unhealthy, I then rang them again and got about £100 of free products and repair products. It did help but I've had to use repair and protection products almost for the last year to keep my hair improving to feel healthy again. While doing this I had to go to the hair dressers and get my hair cut really short to get rid of all the dead hair. I really don't like short hair on me, I like long hair so it was a bit meh.

I didn't like it short but I knew I had to for it to start to grow back properly. But I am pleased to say it feels pretty okay now, a lot of looking after but my hair is feeling healthy and got its 'bounce' back, also the length, which pleases me greatly.

Looks a bit frizzy but it was just blow dried, won't be for a while yet but I'm wanting to go red or dark brown, but I will be going to the hair dressers for that aha :)

Haul & Review | & Other Stories

So I recently came across this boutique type website www.stories.com its pretty reasonably priced and the packaging is super cute which is an added bonus. So I had a little look and there was free shipping so obviously I was going to take advantage of this situation. So seen as I've done quite a bit of shopping recently I only got four items but I needed a new scrub and the other little bits.

So how adorable is this packaging its super colorful :)

So these two aren't anything special, I've wanted to get one of these eyelash brush to have on the go its good if your mascara gets clumpy and its actually good for shaping the eyebrows as well I've found anyway. I got this kohl eye pencil in tabby brown, I'm gonna go for a lighter look on my eyes mostly this summer. I always have black eyeliner and thick winged look, which I love don't get me wrong but sometimes its just too heavy, it'll be nice for festivals and stuff I think, keep its nice and neutral and give your eyes a bit of definition.

Random I know but I got some cotton sticks, I don't really put them in my ears cause most doctors will tell you its not really the best thing to do unless obviously you have like wax falling out your ear, you can push them too far and damage your ear drums and I worry too much so I won't do that, I got them for when I make little mistakes doing my make up, mainly getting spots of mascara on my eyelids, I pretty much do it every time and these are perfect to get rid of it and not ruin all your eye shadow etc.

Oh Em Gee. This scrub smells absolutely amazing, its like strawberry, milkshake, floral awesomeness. It makes my skin feel so nice after I've used it and I am just using it on my arms and legs at the moment to help improve my skin a bit, but I will certainly buy it again and would recommend it. Its quite fine as well which I prefer I don't like the sloppy horrid lumpy scrubs you can get from certain brands, its nice to apply and makes your skin feel lovely. I'd recommend moisturising as well after using it to make your skin even softer :)

Style | Messy side plait & Make up

Hey Guys, Its all snowy and cold in England today and don't get me wrong, I love snow. Just when I'm inside and warm and snuggled up, not when I'm out in the cold getting wet and soggy. There's not much point me putting on a full face of make up when the weathers like this, my eyes water a lot and until I have been to the hospital and had the surgery they will carry on.

With my hair, I just did a normal side plait and then scrunched my hair near the roots to add a bit of volume and the 'messy' style. I then used a hair pin to just keep the stray bits at the back neat and used hair spray to keep it all nice and still. Which is certainly needed with the cold snow and wind trying to mess my hair up aha.

So I've gone for a subtle natural/smokey eye look. When my eyes water loads, I have to constantly wipe tears away from my eyes so no eyeliner in my water line. I've put a thin layer of Rimmel wake me up foundation and then some Rimmel brozner and Watts up highlighter from benefit. I used the vain powder and boi-ing concealer out of my benefit how to look good at everything mini box set. I used a light and dark brown eye shadow from the neutral MUA pallet from Super-drug.

So as the weather is horrible today, I just went out to dinner with my boyfriend and we had a carvery and now we are staying in all day and relaxing and probably watch toy story.

Make up | Big eyes

Hey there :) I normally have this make up style if I'm going out or sometimes just on the weekend . I love the big winged eye liner cause I've always felt like my eyes are tiny. My lips are a nice coral/red at here but I normally change my lip color around quiet a bit. Below are the products I use to get this look. Enjoy! Please excuse my messy hair! :)

Benefit - How to look good at everything

I used the porefessional balm to help minimise any pores on my face. I used the Boi-ing concealer to cover up any blemishes and dark spots, I also put some under my eyes to make them look a bit brighter.

Rimmel - Stay Matte Powder

I applied this after used all my complexion products to just set it in, it is my favourite face powder and I will be buying this again and again.

Rimmel - Sun Shimmer Bronzer

I used this to just contour my cheeks and give myself a bit of a more healthy glow.

Benefit - Watts Up

I used the Watts Up highlighter just on my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose. It gives my face more structure and can help it look slimmer as well, which is a  added bonus of course.

Maybelline - 14 hour lipstick (Stay with my coral)

I used this lip stick at the moment because I'm just loving it, I love coral toned lipsticks anyway and it certainly stays on for most of the day.

Rimmel - Wake me up foundation

I saw Tanya Burr talking about this foundation in some of her videos and thought I would try it out and now I love love love this foundation. It gives such a healthy glow and great coverage.

Maybelline - Falsies black mascara

This is another product I tried after seeing it in one of Tanya Burrs make up tutorials. It gives such amazing volume and length at the same time, which prevents you from having to use 2 mascaras, one for volume and one for length.

Rimmel - Exaggerate liquid eye liner

I haven't strayed from using this eye liner since I started wearing make up at 17. It has never done my wrong and it stays on all day. I should probably start trying others though :)

Super drugs own - Eye lash curlers

Helps give me such length and curl in my eye lashes and goes so so well with the falsies mascara.

Avon -  Blusher (Russet)

I do quite like this blusher, it was a new one and I got a shade darker than I would have liked. I have to kind of blend it in with a different brush so its not so harsh on my face as I have such fair skin.

Haul & Review | Benefit

With a recent shopping splurge, I couldn't help but splash out on some benefit products, I've started buying some more pricey products to see if they are worth the hype.

Watts up highlighter £24.50

I was so so pleased with this. The champagne colour really give structure to my face which is what I need so I don't look just like a pale faced doll. It's super easy to apply and stays on pretty much all day maybe only just a top up if your going out in the evening as well. You use the highlighter end and apply where you wish, I apply just on my cheek bones an half way down my nose, then use the handy little blender on the end and blend it in with my foundation. Will be buying it again!

How to look the best at everything (light) £24.50

This is a 50/50 product for me, you get a various few things in the adorable book like box.

Porefessional

I am super surprised with this, haven't seen anything like it before, you apply it in certain places on your face where you feel you can see your pores and it simply makes them disappear. The blend a way to give your skin a smooth and silky look. I use it on and around my nose and forehead. I'd buy this again and think its worth the price.

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation

I wasn't overly happy with this foundation, I probably put to much on or something but I felt as though it made me a bit orange, I will try it again, it may have been the moisturizer I put on before hand, I liked the way it felt on my skin though, which I do look for in foundations and have heard a lot of good things from that's heart. Will be testing this again guys :)

Boi-ing

I felt it didn't give me a lot of coverage under the eyes, I am still looking for my dream products as i have dark circles under my eyes and it annoys me greatly, at the moment i'm pretty happy with using collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer. I did however very much like this to cover dark marks and spots that creep onto my face no and again, i'm still a bit uncertain on this one.

"Ma Vain" Champagne Powder

Love, love, love! I apply this after my concealer and foundation and it just gives a lovely finishing effect for my complexion. Makes my skin look smooth and silky, doesn't clump on top of my foundation. Just a lovely product to use in my everyday routine.

Nails | Spring polish picks!

I had a little trip to boots and top shop and brought some new nail polishes, I am certainly a nail polish addict. I chose pastel colours for summer as I prefer the more dark reds, browns and black for winter.

They weren't extremely expensive which kept my bank balance happy and I've noticed that the rimmel polishes are staying on better lately and not chipping as much. This is my first models own polish purchase and I'm very pleased with how it stays on and doesn't clump like some other brands.

I went for

Models own - Lemon Meringue

Rimmel - (Pink) Ring a ring o' roses

Rimmel - (Blue) Sweet as sugar

Rimmel - (Turquoise) Misty Jade

Top shop - Mannequin

Review | The Body Shop Coconut Products

I never get magazine subscriptions I just buy them when I see them in the shop, but I could not resist getting the glamour subscription with a free gift of body shop coconut body butter, shower cream and beautifying oil.

I have always adored the coconut body butter but never got it as much as I would like because of the price I would get the nip and fab dupe, but it didn't give the same feeling afterwards. It makes my skin feel so moisturised and soft and it's a definite summer/spring product for me but I shall be starting the use it early, hehe.

I have used the shower cream and to no surprise it didn't disappoint, my skin felt silky soft and smelled like summer and bounty bars. I haven't used the beautifying oil but I'm pretty positive e I will love it all the same.

It was free with the glamour subscription but would be worth £34.99 for all 3 products. So if you feel like treating yourself and love coconut I would totally recommend you go buy these beauties.

Baking | Chocolate cookies

So, I found this recipe on Tanya Burr's YouTube channel, you can find her video here. As soon as I watched the video and saw the melted chocolate in the cookie as she broke it apart, I had to make them. So I did and thought I would share the recipe as I'm sure you's will want to make it as well :)

You will need:
  • Tin foil
  • 2 baking trays
  • Mixing bowl
  • Scales
  • Whisk
  • 1 egg
  • Cocoa powder (75g)
  • Caster Sugar (300g)
  • Self raising flour (275g)
  • Unsalted butter (200g)
  • Milky bar chocolate
  • Dairy milk chocolate
So, to make them:
  1. Put the Oven onto 200°c
  2.  Mix together the butter and sugar in the mixing bowl until it becomes like a paste and all the sugar has gone.
  3. Add in the flour, cocoa powder and egg into the bowl after measuring.
  4. Slightly mix the ingredients until you can carry on with the whisk (don't want to be covered in flour!)
  5. After whisking the ingredients, if it looks a bit dry add a splash of milk
  6. Break up the chocolate and add them in the mixing bowl
  7. Time to get messy!, stick your hands in and mix the chocolate into the cookie mixture til they are roughly evenly spread out
  8. Get hand sized balls of the mixture and put them on the tray, pat them down into a cookie shape, carry this on until you have used all of the mixture
  9. Put them in the oven for 10-12 minutes, they will still be a bit squishy so leave them on the side for 30-40 minutes before eating.

Here are mine, before putting into the oven :)
