Lazy Girl's Guide to Afternoon Tea

It's nice to have the girls round for afternoon tea or even a family get together, good for a sunday catch up. But not everyone has the time to bake a cake or maybe we would much rather just sit and watch netflix. This is a lazy girl's guide to having afternoon tea.

This is perfect if you are on a budget, I went down to my local Co-operative shop and had a little look at what they had. I picked up some ready made cake mix which was only 99p. I then picked up some ready made Betty Crocker chocolate fudge icing and edible wafer flowers.

With the cake mix you just need to add 2 eggs and 8 tablespoons of milk. I jazzed mine up a bit and added some cinnamon, chocolate powder and raisins. Pop it in the oven on gas mark 3 for 15 minutes (Mine did need a bit more, I left them in for about 5 minutes extra).

Let if cool and spread the chocolate fudge icing over the loaf cake and then pop the flowers where ever you want.

From the co-operative shop I also picked up a ready made berry medley for £2 to add on the side to go along with the cake.

What cakes do you like to make? Let me know in the comments below.

  4. Great idea! I like to make little tarts. I buy some pre-made pie dough. I take the dough and put it in the spots in a mini-muffin tin. Then I just use a spoon and put a dallop of any flavored jelly or lemon curd in the tin. I then just put it in the toaster oven until the crust is cooked (like ten minutes) and it makes a perfect tea treat!
