Everyone loves freebies, it's just part of nature. Well for me anyway. As a blogger you do get a few freebies to try out and review for your blog, it is one of the perks of being a blogger. However people, you can get free stuff without being a blogger. On the website gratisfaction you can get the best freebies and sample items to try. It is perfect to try something new and getting little presents through the door always makes you excited for the post man to arrive. If their not on strike again.

When I was in my teens I used to love free stuff like this, it would save you money on the little boring bits you would normally be spending your money on, this can then be used on more 'important' things like make up...

One of my favourite things about Christmas and winter is Jumpers. Being in a snuggly thick jumper all cosy with a hot chocolate keeping your hands warm is my idea of perfection. I'm sure everyone is the same. Well I hope so anyway!

Christmas jumpers with wacky prints and slogans are amazing, but knitwear alone is also a great fashion statement. Especially for the everyday. 5 Reasons Why You Skin Would Like You To Quit Smoking*

There are many reasons why people should be encourages to quit smoking, and there should be more websites out there, that should promote more people to quit. Below we have came up on reasons why you should quit smoking, and one of them is what benefit your skin will have if you have quit. 

In collaboration with The British Skin Foundation, we have assembled the 5 key reasons why you should quit smoking or switch to ecigs, just for you skin health alone.

1. Smoking Ages Skin

The British Skin Foundation spokesperson and consultant dermatologist, Dr. Anjali Mahto says that like any other organ in the body, the skin is also vulnerable to the damage smoking causes. If you would like to age gracefully and avoid many pre-existing conditions from becoming worse, it is advisable not to start smoking. If you are already a smoker, you should seriously consider quitting if you would like your skin to keep feeling and looking health. 

The British Skin Foundation also states that smoking hastens the process of ageing in the skin through the production of an enzyme known as matrix metalloproteinase-1, and the reduction of oxygen, both of which contribute to the degradation of elastic collagen. Smokers tend to develop ‘smoker’s’ lines or wrinkles around the mouth as well as ‘crow’s feet’ early on. It has been shown repeatedly since the initial studies were undertaken in the 1970’s. Evidence also suggests that women have a higher likelihood of developing this than men.

2. Smoking Delays Healing Of Wounds

Dr. Mahto states that the healing of wounds after surgery or trauma can take longer than expected if the individual is a smoker. Smokers are also at a higher risk of experiencing wound infections as well as the failure of skin grafts. Smoking also contributes to the development and persistence of leg ulcers. Carbon monoxide and nicotine found in cigarettes can cause vasoconstriction. This reduces the amount of oxygen reaching the skin, which slows down the production of new collagen.

3. Smoking Can Cause Skin Cancer

Dr. warns states that cigarette smokers have twice the risk of getting a type of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma compared to those that do not smoke. Smokers are at a higher risk of getting oral cancer since 75 percent of cases occur in smokers.

4. Smoking Can Predispose You To Skin Conditions

Dr. Mahto sates that some skin conditions such as discoid lupus erythematosus, hidradenitis, and psoriasis are more common in those that smoke. The exposure to tobacco smoke can increase the risk of developing psoriasis. Smokers with psoriasis are also less likely to show improvement that those that don’t. It is worth noting that people with psoriasis who stop smoking have a higher chance of noticing a positive effect on the condition.

5. Cigarettes Can Cause Smokers’ Acne

The British Skin Foundation states that smokers, particularly females are more susceptible to what is referred to as ‘smoker’s acne’ in addition to smothers and premature ageing of the skin. Writing in the British Journal of Dermatology, researchers observed that this acne was characterized by large blackheads and blocked pores but the spots were less inflamed than in regular acne.

Shopping for make up is most women's idea of heaven. I know mine certainly is. Coming out with what looks like a Picasso piece on the back of your hand from endless swatches from eyeshadows and lipsticks. Superdrug and boots are my absolute favourite, however, Superdrug tends to have more affordable brands and also has the Zoella range. So it's certainly a bonus for people like me on a budget.

Brands like MUA and Makeup revolution have really well pigmented and great coverage products. They also happen to be a fraction of the price of most high street brands.

A Five Year Period Hiatus & How I Cope | My Experience

I'm currently sitting on my sofa, with a cup of peppermint tea and hot water bottle watching Bob's Burgers.  Now the best place to start is probably the beginning.  People all experience it differently, some people suffer, some people it doesn't bother and for some people like myself its very intermittent.

I really struggled when I first started, throughout school and college I had to have days off because I was just in too much pain and couldn't focus. I felt immobilised. In my late teens I opted to get the implant, its the size of a hair grip and just sits inside your arm. I had researched it a lot and saw that it helped with periods for a lot of people. So I thought, why not? I also got it for one of the obvious reasons, contraception.

Not-So-Obvious Countries Where The Food Is Amazing And Worth Travelling For*

Obviously, food plays a big part when I’m choosing where I want to go for my holiday. After all, it makes a trip worth it if the food is to die for! Putting obvious choices like Italy and Mexico aside, there are some amazing countries which tick the boxes when it comes to food. Here are some not-so-obvious countries where is the food is amazing and worth travelling for!


Only situated about three hours away, there is plenty to interest people when it comes to Portugal. In fact, the Algarve is one of the top rated places in Europe for its beautiful beaches. But foodies will want to flock there for the amazing food choices on offer. Their delicious sardines are amazing and are fantastic on the grill. In fact, you will struggle to find a restaurant not selling the delicious fish. They use codfish a lot to make delicious dishes Pastéis de bacalhau, which is our version of fishcakes. And if you have a sweet tooth, there are many egg-based desserts which will satisfy your appetite including torta de Azeitão. And don’t forget to enjoy a glass of Sangria or two while enjoying the sunset in the Algarve.

A Few New Things

I haven't brought myself anything in quite a while now. Adjusting to leaving home can still be hard. I worked my butt off at work, got some overtime and brought myself a few new things. It's not much but every now and then, please need a bit of retail therapy and let me tell you, it really helps! The first thing I picked up, well actually Scott treated me too. The beautiful River Island Weekend Bag. I'm going away soon on my own to go and see family and I don't want to carry a massive suit case. The patterns are beautiful!

Why I Love Autumn

Autumn is here! Well, pretty much. But I couldn't be happier it is my all time favourite season. I know the picture above is old but there isn't loads of leaves on the ground yet and you can see this is a very Autumnal vibe, it seemed suited. September Goals

September already, I know. It's crazy. However, I am excited. September means we are closer to Autumn, comfy jumpers, crunchy brown leaves, hot chocolate and cosy nights in. Autumn and Winter are my absolute favourite, with this in mind I wanted to start some goals to complete for this month. So I guess, here we go.

01// Continue with my weight loss
I've been on my Slimming world journey for a while now and I've lost 1 stone 3 pounds so far. It has been a journey and tough at time. I had a couple months where I just couldn't budge or lose anymore and I knew something had to change. I cut down on meat and dairy and it's really made a difference. I feel better in myself and I don't seem to be as bloated whereas before I felt it a lot. I want to continue and I am hoping to lose another 5 pounds hopefully this month and reach my 1 and a half stone award.

Penhaligon's is a brand I haven't really heard of before. But I was lucky enough to try a sample of the new fragrance. They challenge the traditional floral and fruity scents that you see in most everyday perfumes.

The Treat Kitchen*

When you're feeling low or maybe you just fancy a treat, nothing is better than sweets. Luckily in Coventry, where I currently am a new sweet shop has just opened. Sweets are a nice treat, a memory, something to share (or maybe not). 

One of my favourite sweets is strawberry and cream hard boiled sweets. They remind me of when I was little and I would go to the sweet shop and get, what seemed like a huge bag. They would last me the whole week.

Khaki & Victory

I've reached a milestone in my weight loss journey now and as a reward I treated myself to a bit of shopping. One of the items I picked up was this beautiful khaki coloured bomber jacket with a faux silk material. It was a steal at only £30 and will certainly buy more. Soft to the touch, so lightweight and slips on like a glove. I feel it's really slimming for my figure as well, which is always a bonus.

Jackets and coats aren't something I normally would buy. I don't like coats, haven't had one in about 5 years and normally live in cardigans and my beloved and overworn leather jacket in the winter.

Anyway, back to my personal victory. These blue jeggings, looking brand new, which they are but I've had them about a year. They never fit me when I got them and I have now gone down a dress size on my bottom and top. So I've finally managed to fit into them and damn it feels good. 

I also picked up some beauty bits which will feature in another post and these plain black flats from primark for about £4. I love an everyday casual flat. Something you don't need to think about if it fits in with the outfit and you can just slip on and head out the door. The stretch black and white stripped top also from primark, a long time ago now. 

I will continue at Slimming world and hopefully continue to lose the weight and keep it off! Best decision I made.

I don't know about you but my brain feel's like it's on overtime a lot. I think about so many things, some are serious stuff and some are mundane. It can range from if I'm ready to start a family to thinking if I've had too many biscuits that day. Do you want to see whats in my head? Lets go!

  1. That alarm is so annoying, maybe I can have 5 more minutes and just not do my hair.
  2. Why can't I live in France and have fresh croissants for breakfast everyday, well I'll settle for marmite on toast.
  3. Do I need my job, can I not just stay in bed all day.
  4. Damn only 2 days til the weekend and I don't have to wake up with a stupid alarm.

When I'm in that bored state I turn to documentaries, but more independent ones, not your average David Attenborough run of the mill. On this most recent documentary screening, I chose Hot Girls Wanted. I'd heard about it from a friend at work and didn't really expect what I saw.

Sunday Summary #19

Sunday again, this year is going ridiculously fast. I'm sitting here, writing my post with my vanilla coffee and David Attenborough documentary in the background. As this year is moving so fast, it's making me realise that I'm getting older and will be 25 come January. I'm currently now working on something which when I've finished I will share with you.

This week has been mostly good, I've been a bit poorly but I've been more active. Me and Scott went to the War Memorial Park in Coventry, Pokemon hunting of course. I'm trying to be more active this week as I went to Slimming World and had put 1/2 a pound on. I know it's not a lot but I don't want gains, I want to keep losing weight.

I've been using the Headspace app as well this week, to try keep my stress levels down. It's surprising how well it's worked and how much better you feel after completing a session.

I've been in a bit of a rut the last few months, as you'll know from my lack of posts. I'm feeling better and want to get out in the world, see it and share it on my blog.

Get Body Confident in 8 Easy Steps*

Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, yet so many people are unhappy with how they look. Wanting to drastically change how you look is not healthy for confidence or your bank balance. Do you feel embarrassed about particular flaws? Do you set yourself unrealistic goals? Give yourself a break will these body-positive tips.

Focus on the bits you really like
Write a list of your favourite qualities. Include the last genuine compliment someone gave you. They don’t all have to be about your body! A good list will feature physical and emotional qualities. Whenever you feel unhappy, refer to the list for reassurance.

Exercise isn’t just for weight loss, it also boosts confidence and mental health. Gyms can be pretty intimidating places. If you are a beginner there are plenty of mini workouts you can do at home. Even going for a short walk counts. You needn’t go it alone either when there are so many fun activities that can be enjoyed with friends. The goal should be strength and fitness, not unhappy weight loss.

Behind The Lense

I haven't really had my head in blogging lately. I keep getting into it and then losing the interest. I've just been getting blogging envy and feeling like I'm failing. It's not a nice feeling, to feel like you aren't happy with something you've put so much of yourself and time into. I've had a few other personal stresses thats took my mind off it as well.

When you don't have the energy to make your blog how you want it, you just don't feel happy. I'm certainly considering a full make over on the blog. I feel sometimes there is a bit of pressure, I like things to look nice and when my flat is a mess or I'm sitting in PJ's, no make up and a scruffy hair, I don't feel like I want to take a picture of it.

I've recently had a flush of motivation back and I'm loving taking photos again and writing up posts. I have a good few ideas for posts and hoping to get back into it, head first. So, long story short, I'M BACK BABY!

Master The Art Of Caring For Your Hair With These Tips*

The trick to having great hair is to care for it properly. Healthy, well-managed hair will style better and look great. Read my eight tips below, to get beautiful well-cared for hair.

Don't wash it too much

We all love to have clean hair, but it is possible to wash your hair too much. Washing your hair every day, unless it is very greasy or very short, isn't the best idea. It's easy to strip it of the natural oils and leave it dull and lifeless. If your hair is shoulder length or longer, wash it every second day to preserve some of the natural oil.

Use a good quality conditioner

There are so many expensive hair care products of there. But I remember a hairdresser giving me this brilliant piece of advice. He said, "Don't worry about the shampoo you use but spend your money on really good quality conditioner". This will make your hair look shiny and make it so much easier to style.

Use remy hair extensions


If you need some extra length quick, make sure to use human hair extensions, not the fake ones. Not only will they look more natural and blend in with your own hair, but they will also be lighter too. This puts less stress on the root of your natural hair and causes less damage.  

Get it cut regularly


Getting your hair cut regularly is hair care 101, but you'd be surprised how many people get out of the habit. Even if you're growing your hair, you will need the ends trimmed. Remember the ends of your hair are the oldest and the most vulnerable to heat damage, so as soon as those split ends appear, get them chopped!

Use a tangle brush

Another great discovery I've made is to use a tangle brush. These are so great for brushing your hair out once you've washed it. It removed tangles without pulling or breaking the hair. They are also great for kids,  to save them from the pain of teasing out tangles traditionally.

Don't back comb all time

Now, I know that volume is important, but try to not back comb your hair all the time. Backcombing encourages breaking on otherwise healthy hair and can make your hair look dry. If you simply must have volume, every day try a volumizing product like dry shampoo or powder instead like these ones here.

Don't bleach and perm

The cardinal sin of hair care is to bleach and perm at the same time. You're just asking for it to come out in clumps. If you have to, go for one or the other, but please do not combine them. Maybe you could try embracing your natural style instead?

Use a hair mask

Lastly, if you are in between cuts and you can see that your hair is becoming dry, why not use a hair mask. These are nourishing moisturisers that are designed to be left on the hair for 5 - 30 minutes. They replenish the moisture and oil and get your hair back to its shiny, manageable self.

Five Effective Ways To Keep Your Favorite Outfit In Tip Top Condition

We all have the one outfit that we totally love, this is mine, and we would be gutted if we couldn't wear it anymore. Stop this happening by taking good care of it and it will last from year to year, making sure you always have a go-to look that will make you feel fabulous.


If we are wearing something, then we are going to need to clean it. It's simple advice but makes sure you wash your outfit according to the manufacturer's instructions. If it says to wash at 40 degrees with similar colours, do not bung your favorite white top in with all your black trousers of a 60-degree wash. You end up with a dirty looking grey! If you must wash all your clothes together, use a colour catching sheet, which will at least minimise the chance of the shades bleeding into each other.

Sunday Summary #18

I know a lot of these pictures are food but to be honest, I haven't been up to an awful lot but been focusing on my healthy eating. Which did work, I lost another 2 and a half pounds this week. I've been working as per, living a fairly normal existence this week nothing important.

I've spent most of the weekend watching Orange is the new black. I love this show, its crazy Piper is a real person and it's based on her experiences. I've been watching a lot of netflix lately and been slacking on the exercise. I'm not sure why, I've been feeling a bit stressed and I know I eat emotionally. I haven't searched for much help with that, but I know I need too.

It's hard to explain it to others, the same as anxiety and I feel that they bounce off each other. I need to draw a line under it and start again.

Sorry this post is a bit whiney. On the up side I dyed my hair, painted my nails and had a pamper night. I feel so much better after that, it's nice to make time for yourself.

A Few Happy Things

Life is all about balance, we can try to be the happy go lucky person we all want to be, but sometimes you just feel like s**t. It's not something that can be helped, although most humans want to believe it, there are some things beyond our control. Loss of a loved one, illness, even just those 'meh' days we all have from time to time.

With this in mind, I accept my bad days and just leave them to one side, I know I need to focus on stressing less and being more mindful. There are a few things that can help, well help me anyway. I thought I'd share them and hopefully they can help you too! Ignore the bad and focus on those good days and make them better.

1// Yoga & Meditation

It's a common one, however a lot of people still don't really understand it and just fob it off. Even after one session of meditation breathing and yoga stretches, I feel a million times better. I even handle stress better and don't let it get to me. I aim to end up practicing this every other day, if not every day. I've always used Tara Stiles on YouTube who created Strala Yoga, her videos are easy to follow and the beginner ones are a great way to start.

2// Writing Lists

This isn't for everyone but it really helps me. I love writing lists and could do it all day. If I feel a bit off or stressed. I write a list of everything I want in life, from silly things to the serious grown up things. They range from Having a baby and buying a house to picking up the new benefit mascara and finally cleaning out my wardrobe. It gives me focus while I'm writing it all down and keeps my goals in the back of my head. Then I know I can continue to work towards having things to make me happy.

Five Documentaries To Watch On Netflix

Horror film, chick flick I love them all. I am also a big lover of documentaries. I love learning and hearing about things I never knew before. Fascinating or even upsetting sometimes but it can open up your eyes to a whole world you never even knew about. Here are a few that are worth the watch.

01// Cowspiracy

This is a definite must see. All the things that you didn't know about animal agriculture are covered in this documentary. It shows how much resources of water, food and energy are used to produce meat for our consumption. I do eat meat, it's not something I lie about or am happy doing but I always have. I do think this will give me something to think about and certainly think it's worth a watch. From hunting other animals to destroying rainforests these are just some of the things are used to make that big mac you want.
