Your Tips For The Ultimate Spa Break*

Sometimes you want to relax and just get away from life for a while. I’ve been in that situation before but I haven’t always been able to pay for an expensive spa treatment. That’s the hardship of being in your early adult years, unfortunately. You can’t always afford the luxuries. Now I’m a little better off and I can spend some money to take time away from it all. However, I know there’ll still be people out there in the position I was a couple of years ago. So, I’m going to look at both options. Either getting away for a spa retreat. Or, organising your own spa treatments at home.

To get an away spa treatment you need to find a place within a reasonable distance away from you. You’ll actually often find coupons from this place pop up around special times of the year like Valentine’s Day or Christmas. It’s to entice confused boyfriends into buying spa treatments as gifts. But hey, there’s no written rule that says you can’t buy one for yourself.

Then you should think about what type of treatments you want. I wouldn’t waste money on things that you can do in the comfort of your own home for free. Focus on things like acupuncture, aromatherapy and massages. These are the treatments that even your boyfriend can’t help you with. With the best will in the world your typical guy won’t be able to rival the hands of a masseuse.

Once you’ve found the place you can book it in your calendar and countdown the days. Now, let’s look at the other option.

Spa At Home

If you’re playing the home game, make sure you trick your senses into thinking you’re getting the five star treatment. You can start by purchasing personalised hotel bathrobes. These are perfect for wearing around the house when you’re having a home spa treatment with the girls.

Next, you can again think about the type of treatments you want. You’re a little more limited at home but it can be just as relaxing and rejuvenating. I’d start with a steam cleanse. You can do this by filling a bowl with boiling water and holding your head over it for ten minutes. Use a flannel to catch the steam. Or, you can opt for the classic face mask with cucumbers over the eyes. You can make a face mask of most of the ingredients you will typically have around the home. This might include oats, yoghurt, honey and egg white. Mix it all together to form a paste and slather it on. Trust me, these are the same ingredients they are using at any “luxury spa.”

Then you can finish off with a nice soak in a lovely bath. If you’re lucky you might be able to rope your significant other into giving you a full body massage. It depends on how lucky you are in love I suppose.

I hope you enjoy your spa treatments, whether you get professional help or you have fun at home.
