February Catch Up

Well, well, well. Here I am, haven't done a lot of catch up posts lately and I miss doing them, so here is a lovely long(ish) chatty post about February. This month has been pretty good, my anxiety has been up and down but mostly up which I'm always hopeful for.

So anyway, at the beginning of February and like most of the month, I've been working a lot and then some. I've done so much overtime and started working myself ragged, so I had to chill out on all the overtime so I could make more time for me. Having time for yourself is one of the most important things in life, I think. A lot of people don't really practice it though, so start!

My Current Beauty Base

What is make up look if not a beautiful base to build it on. Ive been loving these items lately and haven't strayed from these for a while now. I'd one million percent recommend them to anyone. I start with the foundation 'Better Skin' by Maybelline. It's got good medium coverage and a good finish when applied with a sponge. My absolute favourite powder which I have not really changed since I first tried it. The gorgeous Maybelline 'Super stay 24'. This gives amazing full coverage with a flawless finish. Normally the sponges you get with the powders are crap, lets be honest but for a drugstore one, the sponge is so good. I always use it.

Rose Gold Primark Picks

Rose gold is certainly all the rage lately and I love it just as much as the next person. It's different, more feminine and flattering on my pale skin. During my stroll around primark I saw that lovely chain swirl necklace in silver and had to have it. After about 5 more steps I saw it in rose gold and swapped it without a second thought. I then continued to pick up a few more things.....

Quick Ways To Get A New Look*

One of the things about growing up is the search for your ‘look’. It can really preoccupy you trying to find the style you like and the look that makes perfect sense. Most of us could admit to a few mistakes along the way. Still we settle for what suits us and from then on, it is a matter of buying things that work. You might know after all that bright colours suit you, or that for some reason 'blue' is just not your colour.

But that also means that we stop experimenting. We settle on a hairstyle that works or a range of makeup that is within a certain range. Wouldn't it be good if we could experiment a little more and find joy in new ways of looking? Here are some thoughts on quick and easy ways you can find a new look. Who knows, some of them might stick!

How To Easily Re-Evaluate Your Beauty Regime*

It’s easier than you think to get stuck in a beauty rut. When you find skincare or makeup that works for you, it’s a fantastic feeling. But it can also stop you from trying out new things and results in your buying the same products over and over again. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, after a few year this can often become tedious and predictable. Ideally, we should all be reevaluating our beauty regimes at least once a year. So use this guide to shake up your routine and breathe new life into your look.

Falmouth Feelings

I recently had a weekend away in Cornwall, Falmouth. You could probably guess from the lack of social media updates. The signal was terrible, I don't know how people survived without technology, like what did you do?! Anyway, getting away and not having signal meant I could have some proper time to relax. I really enjoyed my time away with Scott and his family, apart from the constant and rain and I did have a panic attack.

I haven't had one in a while so it was a shock and I felt awful. Saturday morning was my favourite, it was finally sunny. Scott and I had a walk along the pier and through the cute and quirky shops. I have vlogged this weekend but I'm having trouble getting the files on my laptop but I'm hoping it will be up by the weekend. So keep an eye out!

It's nice sometimes to just get away and have time away from the normal working, bills and night of Netflix. Explore a new place, get out of your comfort zone and see the world even if it is a smal town in Falmouth. I will certainly be trying to see more of the world this year.

What's your favourite place to visit?

The Me Behind Drainedbeauty

I've been doing my blog for a good few years now and I like to think that it and myself have grown a lot in that time. Having an online presence can give you more confidence to possibly say or do things you wouldn't in everyday life. One of the things I have learnt is how to do my make up and how to take a good selfie. Not exactly transferrable skills, but skills I like that I have. Although I can do this, I still post the real me, whether thats on twitter, snapchat or soon to be youtube. The difference in the photos above and what I wanted to get into today is that it's okay if you want to do your make up, take a selfie and feel good about yourself? Is it wrong to feel confident and beautiful, definitively not!
