The Reading List #1


I'm going to start a reading/book review section on my blog. I will be buying a few books to read then will be reviewing them on the blog. I've been wanting to read more and I've been struggling to find a book that I can really get into. I have always been a massive fan of Harry Potter story but never read the books. They were 3 for 2 at WHSmiths so I thought I would give it a go, all 3 books for £16, bargain!

I've heard a lot of good stuff about these books and can't wait to review them, I've already started reading the Philosophers stone and its amazing how different it is to the films. Even small minor details, the books certainly bring more atmosphere and magic to your imagination of the story.

Reading used to be a big part of my life and TV seems to have just taken over. You can't expand your mind and vocabulary as much as you can with reading. I'm hoping I'm able to stick with it while also looking after Lily. At the moment I seem to be able to read the most when I'm in the bath, my lovely relaxing alone time.

Ten Things I Want To Do This Autumn


As many of you are aware, Autumn is my favourite time of year. If you don't know, well, now you do. Cosy jumpers, hot chocolate, pumpkin spice, cold and dark mornings, halloween episodes of The Simpsons and the crunchy leaves when you walk down the street. What's not to love? I've never been a fan of the heat, I find it a lot easier to snuggle up and get warm than I do to cool down.It's our first Autumn with Lily as well so even more excuses to stay inside and cuddle with the little munchkin while binge watching Netflix. Although as much as I like to stay in all cosy there are a few bits I want to do this Autumn to get out and about.

//01 Go to a pumpkin patch
//02 Go for a costa friend date when the new Christmas drinks are out (black forrest hot chocolate is the ultimate drink) 2nd Novemeber, not long!
//03 Watch a scary film
//04 Go for an Autumn Walk around Memorial Park (maybe take some cheeky blog photos)
//05 Have an evening watching tv/Netflix with hot chocolate and cuddles with Scott and Lily.
//06 Do some Autumnal inspired baking
//07 Buy a new jumper
//08 Buy some new boots (floral ones from primark are my current favourite)
//09 Dress up for halloween (I haven't since I was about 10)
//10 Have a big roast dinner with Scott (Thanksgiving inspired, bringing the tradition to the UK)

What I Eat In A Day & Review | Healthy Eating*


Breakfast: French Bean & Spinach Sausages with Poached Eggs

Sausage and eggs are my favourite breakfast on the weekend but sometimes if Lily is asleep I might be able to have it in the week but it's harder if Lily gets hungry so I wouldn't risk it normally. It's a very protein filled breakfast but with this sausages you get some vegetables hidden in there and they taste amazing. I love veggie sausages anyway. It keeps you full and ready for the day.



Lunch: Vegetable Masala with Cauliflower Rice

As a new mum I'm finding it really hard to eat properly in the day and it be healthy, it's so easy to just grab crisps or something snacks. I've recently tried this ready meal, normally they are unhealthy but this one if 3 of your 5 a day which is really good to get the nutrients in your body. Its really important to look after yourself as well as your newborn. Even in general it's important to look after yourself and your body. I've never had cauliflower rice before but I was pleasantly surprised, it was really quite nice and with the curry it gave it a really nice kick to the flavour.



Dinner: Mushroom & Spinach Kievs with Salad

It's easier to cook meals in the evening when Scott is home as I can take time to really focus on it. I love cooking and being in the kitchen. A quick meal for when I want to get other stuff done is this Mushroom and Spinach Kiev's with creamy cheese filling with a side salad. I do like kievs but the garlic butter normally deters me as I don't like a greasy buttery filling, these however have a creamy rich filling which is much more suited to me. These were by far my favourite products of the Goodlife range. Amazing rich cheese flavour with a crispy outside, goes perfect with a side salad maybe even some fries if you feeling cheeky.

Goodlife are stocked in sainsbury's and a perfect way to get children to eat more vegetables without losing good taste. They also have Falafels with Cumin and Coriander. I've tried these as well and they are extremely tasty as well. I had these in a pita with some bell peppers and salad. It's a perfect lunch and you can take it on the go as well.

Snacks: Throughout the day I had a banana and chocolate fingers. Also about 3 cups of coffee!

Two Marvellous Months


Another month gone, I know people say time goes fast but this is purely expeditious. I didn't even realise how big she was getting until I looked back at pictures from when she was born and compared. People still see her and think she looks so little and my brain just goes she was a lot littler, just wanting her to stop growing.

Tips While On A Budget*



Money, money, money. The solution to a lot of problems but a problem in it self when you don't have a lot. As most of you are aware I'm on a budget now as I'm on maternity leave. Maternity leave isn't great money wise but amazing that I get time off with my lovely Lily. I've started picking up little bits to still enjoy life and scrimp while having less money coming in.

//01 Free days out
One of the main problems since being on less money is feeling like you can't do anything, go to the cinema, go out for dinner or even getting a coffee with a friend can be a stretch sometimes. You can make small adjustments to be able to do this. There are offers all the time for cheap meals like wowcher and o2 priority. You can go to majority of museums for free and it's an interesting fun day out. Instead of going to costa and paying upwards of £6 for a coffee and cake have friends round, have a drink and catch up at home, maybe even a movie night with a bottle of cheap wine from Aldi.

//02 Freebies and offers
Always keep an eye out online, there are always offers and samples up for grabs as well as competitions on companies instagram and twitter. The famous Freebie Friday hashtag which has so much up for grabs just by retweeting something. There is so much free stuff as well so have a look around online.

//03 Store cards
Store cards are something you don't really need to think about, they do pile up in your purse and become a pain to carry around but if you have them for your go to stores they can really help you out. Boots is a good example, if you are part of the parenting club then you get extra points when buying anything baby related which I do, ALOT. I've totalled up £10 of points just from when Lily was born.

//04 Bulk buy
Buying in bulk can save a lot of money, I've been buying massive 3kg of pasta and rice to stock up in the cupboard rather than buying little and often. If you have a costco membership as well they are perfect for buying in the masses but you can also find big quantities of products on amazon like coffee and sweets.
